Wok Hum, Vinaros, Spain

Beautiful Sushi
We measured the distance we travelled through Spain last year, by the number of Wok Buffets we visited. This may sound sad, but let me explain that Spanish Chinese/Asian buffets are better that any in other country outside of Asia. And why is this, you quite rightly ask? I shall explain...

They have kilometers (minor exaggeration) of fresh fish, seafood, meat and vegetables and an Asian chef. The two together produce freshly cooked deevine food made to order. You collect all the goodies you want to eat, take them over to your personal chef and he cooks them before your very eyes. Fresher and better it cannot be.

You can then have it with garlic and oil, or other spicy sauces, or just comme ca! It's magnificent. I, of course, eat enough seafood for an entire Chinese village, but I just can't get over the huge prawns, fresh tuna steaks, calamari, and more and more and more. Because I can't decide what to have, I have it all...yes, they are always glad to see me go.

We found Wok Hum at kilometer 1049,800 on the N340, and I planned our route through Spain so that we would be SURE to pass by again this year. Some buffets are of course better than others, and Wok Hum is one of the absolute best in Spain. The selection of fresh seafood (and the other stuff mentioned above) is enormous and absolutely fresh.

Beautiful Sushi

But I am forgetting to mention all the other fantastic things they have, for instance, the sushi. Wow. The array of different sushi is huge and beautiful to look at too. Then there was a platter of smoked salmon fillet on a bed of ice. The word “was” is chosen here for obvious reasons...

There is also all the standard prepared Chinese stuff as well, all excellent too. We were there on a Sunday this year and the price is slightly higher on Sundays and public holidays, but so is the spread. There were oysters (“were”...), a whole roasted suckling pig, and other things I didn't get too as I just could not stuff another thing into my mouth no matter how hard I tried. Not even an After Eight Mint.

The restaurant is not made for coziness, but to cater for large numbers of people and this it does very well. It's a huge restaurant, is brand new (about a year old I believe), clean and functional. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is even passing within a 200km radius. Make a detour and visit it – you won't be disappointed. Probably best not to mention that you heard this from “the woman who ate as much as a village”...
