The Beach Basket / O Cabaz Praia, Albufeira, Portugal
(I apologize for the renewed delay in posting, but I have had no telephone or internet for 3 weeks and seem to be getting only a 30minute window in the morning - these first world countries...)
I personally think they could have served me dog biscuits dampened with a bit of dish water and I would have found it deevine, just because of the setting. Fortunately, they chose not to do so and the food, setting and company were all super.
The Wedding Menu
The wedding menu needs no further comment. This first photo is just a small part of the wonderful array of food, so eat your hearts out!
Chinese frogs legs anyone?
The best place to eat frogs legs in my area of France is our local Chinese restaurant. What? I hear you say disapprovingly. Mais oui, I say right back to you. They may be a French delicacy but those nice Chinese people have it down pat. I must, however, interrupt myself here to say that this is not your standard deep fried never-been-seen-in-China Chinese food. Oh no, this is the real Jackie Chan.
A restaurant near Nurnberg
The Three Wise Men have once again proved their worth. After growling my way through the last month trying to stick to my Weight Watchers points, The Family (of three) took a vote that I should be taken to a restaurant before I actually ate any of them. You don’t need to give me Gold (okay, maybe), Incense (stinks anyway) and Myrrh (am going to have to look up what it is before I continue…) to make me happy – JUST FEED ME!!
Aulon Restaurant review
I can’t believe it’s already the 29th of August and I have only managed to do one post a week this month. Sorry! I will catch up next month and you’ll be inundated with posts. What I also haven’t done for a long while is a restaurant review, so today is the day.
Lunch in Spain or Restaurant for masochists
We love popping over the border to Spain for lunch. It sounds so exotic (and I suppose it actually is!). We live about an hour from The Pyrenees, the mountain range that forms the border between France and Spain, and an hour and a half from our favourite Spanish restaurant. Its everyday fare of excellent quality cooked over an open fire in the restaurant. The two women who run it are incredible characters – one makes Attila the Hun look like a nice guy, and the other has two beauty spots that I swear are on a different spot every time we go there. And don’t think that the service is going to get better when Senor Pascha gets there – he does NOT work, but will take your money, soon as he’s finished doing whatever it is that he’s (not) doing!
Mussels at the seaside - a restaurant review
I haven’t as yet done a restaurant review, so today is a first. A couple of weeks ago, Joerg and I took a drive to Hossegor, a town on the Atlantic coast. I really miss the ocean, so my darling husband drove the 3 hours (one way!) just to make me happy. He’s a keeper! They have international surfing events in Hossegor, so there are lots of nice looking chaps about – a definite plus in my book. We have a VW kombi/van and sometimes we sleep in the car right on the beachfront. On one such occasion, I opened my eyes and 4 of these lovely young men were standing near by. I smiled and one came over and placed a kiss on the window. Be still my beating heart!! Then Joerg lifted his head and said kisser was Gone with the Wind….
