• Uta’s Cauliflower Oat Patties

     Cauliflower Oat Patties
Uta and Markus are more deevine family members on my husband’s side and we just love them. Markus is Joerg’s cousin and Uta is his wife. We were lucky enough to be able to spend a little time with them this summer and Uta made these deeelicious patties for us.

  • Os Bombeiros Restaurante/snack bar, Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Portugal

     Os Bombeiros restaurant
As is the case with so many great meals that we’ve had in Portugal, a restaurant will often be called a snack bar and you wouldn’t even think to go and eat there. Our good friend, Moni, recommended this eatery to us and we were delighted with the great food we had there.

  • Coruche Balloon Festival Portugal

     Coruche balloon festival
Coruche is situated about 48km inland from Lisbon and we discovered it and its Balloon Festival quite by chance. I tend to look for rivers, lakes or dams for overnight stops and this is how we discovered Coruche. And they threw in a balloon festival to impress us too!

  • Beef Olives / Rouladen Recipe

     Beef olives
Beef olives have nothing to do with olives that you pick from a tree, but it is thought that the name comes more from its shape than anything else. In some countries one uses the German word rouladen or roulades, and in others olives. Whatever you call them, they are deeelicious and Tante Inge’s recipe is to die for!

  • Restaurant Prates (Café Snack Bar) Igrejinha, Portugal

     Great olives!
We had spotted a different restaurant on our way through town and had actually intended to go there, but it was closed on Tuesday, so I had to find something else. Thank goodness as this restaurant was super and proved to be better than the other one. I asked a local passer-by where to go and with lots of gesticulation, we found Prates.

  • Happy 2019!

     Camper with "lake"!
Happy New Year everyone!!!!! We wish you a year filled with joy and happiness and that our planet gets just a little bit better rather than a little bit worse in 2019.
PS: This photo was taken by our deevine friends, Anouschka & Joachim - thank you!
