Oh Cape Town, how beautiful you are!

Cape Town
Yes, I know it’s been a while, but what can I say, life got in the way yet again. Let’s hope I’m back to stay! We have just been fortunate enough to spend 6 weeks in South Africa – I have to say sorry to all the friends we didn’t get round to seeing, but even 6 weeks is just tooooooo short!

Cape Town from Bloubergstrand
We got to see almost all our family still living in SA which was FANTASTIC and you’ll get to hear all about them and our travels over the next couple of weeks. And all the weird and wonderful people we met and places we visited!

We started our journey in Cape Town with The Husband’s brother and family whom we love to bits. We spent a week in the beginning and at the end with them and had a super time. My nieces gave me a card for my birthday which read: AUNTY – like a Mom only cooler. Them girls got taste I tell you! We had a lovely meal at Thalis on my birthday which I’ll tell you all about later.
Part of my deevine family
Cath, my deevine sister-in-law and I walked the dogs on the mountain everyday which is just spectacular. On one such walk, the adorable Golden Retriever, Meg, decided to go for a swim in a mountain pool out of which she was not capable of exiting without much anguish from us. I whipped my pants off (no comments necessary thank you!) and jumped in to help her, only to discover that I too could not stand in the pool! Fortunately we were able to get both of us out and we will live happily ever after…

Views from the pond walk
Cape Town has grown so much in the last 10 years since I was there last and I found the traffic a nightmare, but it is still just amazing. The views are spectacular wherever you are and life is peaceful and nice. We didn’t experience any bad situations in all our six weeks and I’m looking forward to a return visit a bit sooner than 7 years next time.
Cape Town with the national flower, Protea
We did loads of driving around Cape Town and the Peninsula visiting all our old hangouts and even managed to catch up with friends in Hermanus at the end of our trip – will tell all later. We visited the Bo-Kaap which has become quite famous with tourists for its bright multi-coloured houses and cobbled streets.

Cath is a top journalist and also a great cook, so we were treated to all types of lovely cakes and meals during our stay. One of the cakes she makes is a low-carb banana cake that has no bananas in it...it honestly tastes like bananas but without the carbs. Will post it straight after this post.

Thank you my darling family for everything and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
