Farm Friday 5: The Spider's web

A spider's web in the moonlight
This beauty is (quite obviously) a spider web as opposed to the beauties in my house which are cobwebs, i.e., abandoned spider webs. The oldest web was found in England and dates back 140 million years so I don't feel so bad about the decade old ones hanging around my bedroom.

A spider's web in the moonlight

The Spider's Web
The spider, dropping down from twig,
Unfolds a plan of her devising,
A thin premeditated rig
To use in rising.

And all that journey down through space,
In cool descent and loyal hearted,
She spins a ladder to the place
From where she started.

Thus I, gone forth as spiders do
In spider's web a truth discerning,
Attach one silken thread to you
For my returning.-- E B White

I had no idea that EB White

I had no idea that EB White was the White of Strunk and White. Love the poem- it is National Poetry month here.

I've really grown to

I've really grown to appreciate the beauty of the spiders web, an engineering marvel. Great post, and how can you not love EB White, the person that gave us Charlotte's Web. Loved that story growing up.
