The Terminator and I

The Terminator has gone downhill but therefore I am BACK!!
My parents, aunt, uncle and moi

As I have mentioned in other posts long, long ago (sorry!), my wonderful parents moved in with us last April and we thoroughly enjoyed having them with us. Unfortunately, my Dad had a brain haemorrhage in December and although he is doing very well, they have moved to England due to the language barrier. But we will see them often and I am quite happy to have an excuse to visit them over there. The English weather is, um, English weather, but we will still be happy to walk along the beach in our raincoats...! Here is a photo of Mom and Pops taken last summer with my lovely aunt and uncle, Wendles and Peter, who we are very happy to be seeing more of.

I would just like to say THANK YOU to all of you who have stayed faithful to me during this difficult time and I am happy to announce that I will no longer be neglecting me blog and have lots planned from now on.

Farm Friday 7: Wisteria Magic

Wisteria in front of the house
I won't do too many flower photos I promise, but the Wisteria is soooo beautiful at the moment I just had to share it with you. Just wish you could smell it as the scent wafts through the courtyard. The weather has been Magnificent if a tad too hot for this time of the year, but this evening it's changing and hopefully we'll get some rain. For now I'll just sweep up some of the lovely flowers that are currently wafting through the house...

Farm Friday 6: Spring has Sprung

Some of our beautiful flowers
We have had a super winter actually, but there is something about the arrival of spring that just lifts the soul to another plane. The flowers are in full bloom, the fruit trees are covered in fruit flowers and the warm air and blue skies are a joy to behold.

Banana Cake / Tart

Banana cake
I have 3 very ripe bananas and 3 very cake loving Germans currently in my home. One of them is a permanent fixture, i.e., the German husband Joergi Bear, and the other 2 are his parents. Germans traditionally eat cake in the afternoon with their coffee and so I decided to make use of said 3 black bananas and bake a cake. I often bake a deevine banana bread, but I wanted to do something more special and for once the internet has proved less than forthcoming.

Farm Friday 5: The Spider's web

A spider's web in the moonlight
This beauty is (quite obviously) a spider web as opposed to the beauties in my house which are cobwebs, i.e., abandoned spider webs. The oldest web was found in England and dates back 140 million years so I don't feel so bad about the decade old ones hanging around my bedroom.

Farm Friday4: The Snow Plow

Our plow during the “storm”
So I missed one Farm Friday, but does that really mean I have to be tarred and feathered?! I am, of course, grateful to my loyal / crazy following that they even care, so I shall endeavor to be better and not let this happen again. And I do have SO much to write about. And I have tons of recipes just about ready to be posted. Sigh.

Farm Friday 3: My Kitties

Buddha in the doorway of our farmhouse in winter
I amaze myself at my Farm Friday dedication. It's shortly before midnight and I am dutifully at my computer purely for your pleasure...okay, so I too enjoy my blog. We have had a wonderful week with a delightful French student, Alexandre, who I would adopt if it wasn't for the fact that he already has a wonderful family. Buddha and Puss Puss, my first and second born furry “children” are slightly jealous, so I am posting photos of them today.

Rabbit Terrine with Prunes

Rabbit terrine with chicory apple salad
I am finally posting a recipe in February with just a few minutes in hand before March kicks in. I impress myself! Today's recipe is for bunny and although I too don't like to think of the cute cuddly pet in relation to what is on my plate, when I see what “cutey” is currently doing to my cabbages, I become less sentimental.

Farm Friday: Angels among us

An angel on our farm
Yet another week has passed and still no recipe, but at least I am keeping up with Farm Friday. I might just get round to posting a recipe today, but don't hold your breath as blue might not suit you... The above photo is of a metal piece of artwork by our friend Jackie Grimm who is the most amazing artist. We also have a Spanish Flamenco dancer from her, but you'll have to be patient and wait to see her.
